Description: The Long Man is one of two hill figures in Sussex (the other is The White Horse at Litlington) and nothing is known of his origins. The first reference is in the form of a drawing from 1710 although he is believed to be much older. Holding a staff in each hand, the giant is 227 feet (69 metres) high and has been designed to look proportional when viewed from below.
