Title: St John the Baptist, Crawley
Description: Once belonging to the parish of Slaugham, the church stands on the site of a chapel built in the thirteenth century. The south wall of the nave is thought to date from this time and a medieval turret can be seen from the outside. The imposing square tower was built in the mid-fifteenth century and in the late nineteenth century the church was enlarged, with the addition of a new north wall and in the east a chancel, vestry and altar. Features inside the church include the marble font and the magnificent oak roof which both date from the fifteenth century.
