Title: Stopham Bridge
Description: Built in 1423, Stopham is the finest medieval bridge in Sussex. Built to replace a ferry, it was not until the 1980s that a new bridge on another part of the river took away the heavy traffic. With the construction of the Wey and Arun Canal further upriver came the need for masted ships to navigate through this stretch of The Arun. The central arch was therefore raised in 1822.
