St Peter's, Cowfold
Places Of Worship
Title: St Peter's, Cowfold
Description: Surrounded by cottages and timber-framed houses, Cowfold Parish Church contains the noted spherical brass of Thomas Nelond. It is not know why this brass is here in Cowfold, as Nelond was the twenty-fifth prior of the Cluniac Priory of St Pancras in Lewes. The brass, which is 10 feet (3 metres) long, is a life-sized effigy of him in his monk's habit, surrounded by a canopy which bares images of the Virgin and Child, St Thomas a Becket and St Pancras.
Address: Browning's Hill, , Cowfold, West Sussex
