The Ice House
Title: The Ice House
Description: Icehouses were built to store food during the summer. Packed with ice and straw during the winter, shade was provided by trees that were planted around the structure, helping to keep the contents cool. The example found between Hotham Park car park and the library was built around 1792 as part of the Hotham Estate and is one of the only undamaged examples remaining in Sussex.
